At City Machine Technologies, Inc., we aim to educate our customers  about how we repair or manufacture their industrial equipment. Our goal is to establish credibility and trust that will serve both parties as the business relationship grows. Through the blog, we are excited to share our knowledge beyond face-to-face interaction and with others outside of our existing customer base. In a series of lift magnet related posts, we will be talking about some of our most important processes and equipment.

A lift magnet does exactly what it says: it’s an electromagnet that can pick up or lift metal objects. A lift magnet has magnetic properties in its electrified coil and is normally attached to a crane. The crane then positions the magnet above the objects and the magnet is energized. Lift magnets vary in size. Some can be as big as a queen-sized bed. Lift magnets are used in steel mills, scrap yards, loading docks, warehouses, foundries and ship yards to name a few. Lift magnets can transport sheet, flat and round steel, as well as scrapped vehicles.

City Machine Technologies, Inc.’s Lifting Magnet Division is experienced in the design, rewind, manufacture and service of any material handling magnet or separator roll. Our related field service capabilities range from generators and controls to the design of new material handling systems. State-of-the-art equipment operated by our skilled technicians ensures consistent quality and offers the steel industry the most reliable remanufactured and new lift magnets available today.
