These components are the bearing brackets or endbells for a turbine generator used by a public utility company. This generator produces the electricity used by residential and industrial consumers and must remain reliable during operation. The turbine generator is completely sealed and is pumped full of hydrogen gas to cool the unit while it is in operation. For safety and performance reasons, there can be no hydrogen leaks from the generator. Component inspection requires that all machined sealing fits are true, uniform and free from burrs. Close inspection and great attention to detail are required of all machined surfaces. This allow for the correct sealing of the unit. All fits are closely examined, and corrective machine work is performed if required.
