Some electric motors are designed for a very specific purpose. These types of motors are used in a steel annealing furnace application where temperatures can reach up to 1400 degrees F.
The motors have special alloy shafts and drive large fans. The fans circulate hot gasses within the furnace in order to anneal steel coils. Once processed, these steel coils will be used to manufacture car bodies, appliances and similar products. The motors must be refurbished to critical specifications, which include pressure testing for leaks, special lubricants and special bearings in order to maintain optimum performance.
