Many times an electric motor can be given new life by rewinding. Simply put, this is the process of removing the failed copper coils, making new and re-installing them in the motor core. Part of this renewal process involves a varnish treatment of some type, normally referred to a dip and bake. The varnish helps to hold the windings together and provides protection against heat and dirt. This is the standard practice for refurbishing a motor to like-new condition.
