Generators and alternators convert one form of energy into another (also called electricity). Many generators and alternators are diesel fuel powered, natural gas powered or coal powered.
Pictured is a 2000 KVA/1600 KW alternator that is driven by a digester gas fueled engine in a landfill. This particular alternator was used in a landfill to burn digester gas to power their plants and sell the power back to the grid. When it came to CMT, it was operating at speed but did not provide the power as stated on the nameplate. This alternator was repaired at CMT, but CMT also offers on-site service to evaluate electrical components and mechanical alignments.
