National Skilled Trades Day is Wednesday 5/6

City Machine Technologies, Inc. established National Skilled Trades Day to increase awareness about the benefits of skilled trades jobs in the United States and to celebrate skilled trades workers. National Skilled Trades Day is observed on the first Wednesday in May annually, as proclaimed by the Registrar at National Day Calendar.

“Now more than ever, we need to celebrate those in skilled trades,” says Claudia Kovach, Vice President of City Machine Technologies, Inc. “During this Coronavirus pandemic, we’ve had truck drivers, sanitation workers, medical assistants and respiratory therapists on the front lines. These jobs are essential to our lives and communities and were vastly underrated until now.”

CMT has established National Skilled Trades Day to help celebrate those who are employed as skilled trades workers, inform the community about the benefits of skilled trades jobs and encourage those who are considering entering trade schools or trade jobs.

National Skilled Trades Day is celebrated on the first Wednesday in May annually. In 2020, it will be celebrated on May 6, 2020. CMT is encouraging all to work to raise awareness about the benefits of skilled trades jobs on social media this year using #nationalskilledtradesday. “Say thank you to a truck driver who has delivered groceries to your neighborhood supermarket. Thank a sanitation worker for picking up your trash after you spent the weekend decluttering,” says Kovach. “Are you missing your hairdresser and your barber? Let them know you miss them and how much you value them on social media.”

And, for those parents who have suddenly become teachers, CMT has created a free, downloadable coloring book to teach children about the skilled trades. Download and print the skilled trades coloring book. Kovach suggest after your child has colored it, to staple it like a book and read it.
