CMT can remanufacture all pump designs

Pump problems? CMT has the capabilities to remanufacture all pump designs.

There are two basic designs for a submersible pump, which are designed for water.

  • Integral motor driven where the motor and pump are under water.
  • External motor driven where the pump is under water.

If the pump screen becomes clogged, the motor draws less amps because it’s not moving any water. Seals may begin to run dry and a host of mechanical failures can occur. Contaminants are the leading cause of failure. Lack of water, plumbing cavitation and power are secondary causes of failure.

Common issues are derived from monitoring flow and amperage. There is a caveat to amperage. If the screen becomes completely clogged, the motor draws less amps because it is not moving any water. Then seals may begin to run dry and the onslaught of mechanical failures begin. When the impeller becomes tangled that amperage increases.

Submersible pump failures generally have extensive mechanical component failure starting with a seal failure and leading to bearing issues, but they can be repaired.
