City Machine Technologies, Inc. established National Skilled Trades Day to increase awareness about the benefits of skilled trades jobs in the United States and celebrate skilled trades workers. National Skilled Trades Day is observed on the first Wednesday in May annually, as proclaimed by the Registrar at National Day Calendar. This year, it will be celebrated on May 4, 2022.
“These days, there are ‘Now Hiring’ signs everywhere, and jobs are plentiful,” says Claudia Kovach, Vice President of City Machine Technologies, Inc. “A career in the skilled trades will never go out of style. It will never be shipped overseas. That’s important to remember. A career in the skilled trades is fruitful. It allows individuals to earn a high income and benefits for their families. In today’s climate, it’s a wise career choice. We are honored to help raise awareness and celebrate America’s skilled tradespeople through National Skilled Trades Day.”
CMT established National Skilled Trades Day in 2019 to help celebrate those who are employed as skilled trades workers. The holiday also seeks to inform the community about the benefits of skilled trades jobs and encourage those who are considering entering trade schools or trade jobs.
National Skilled Trades Day is celebrated on the first Wednesday in May annually. In 2022, it will be celebrated on May 4, 2022. CMT is encouraging all to work to raise awareness about the benefits of skilled trades jobs on social media this year using the hashtag #NationalSkilledTradesDay. “Thank those truck drivers you see at the gas station for bringing you food. Thank those medical assistants who take your temperature on your way in to a medical appointment. Thank the mechanic who repairs your car, so you can get to work,” Kovach says. “This is the day to do it!”
In addition, CMT has created a new free, downloadable coloring book to teach children about the machinist career. After your child has colored it, Kovach suggests stapling it like a book and reading it together with your child. You can download and print the 2022 coloring book along with years past.
