Vertical motors are used in pumps, gearboxes, grinders and mills, among other industrial equipment. Vertical motors have many design specific attributes based on down thrust requirements. Many vertical motors have multiple thrust bearing sets on either the top or bottom housing and larger designs have Babbitt tilt pad and guide bearings for heavy load conditions.
